CATEGORIES
To help readers find what
they are looking for I have a page which
breaks the fics up into categories.
The following explains what
these categories are.

The story is either focuses on or
is seen through the eyes of one of the characters
quite prominently. Granted in most cases
Sailor Moon's focus will be on Sailor Moon
herself, but many fanfic writers and indeed the
series itself would focus on another character
for a time. The Character Based genre will
feature the following categories.
Sailor Moon: While this may
seem like a no brainer, many of the sites out
there will not fall into this category.
Sailor Moon & Tuxedo
Mask: This of course has stories which
feature the pair, and not necessarily just in
terms of romance.
Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor
Venus, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Pluto, Sailor
Saturn, Sailor Neptune, Sailor Uranus,
Chibiusa/Rini stories all focus on a specfic
character.
Other: This category is wide
open. It can entail a story about a small
group of scouts, i.e or one or two such as
Neptune and Uranus. It can also mean a story
featuring one or more of the starlights. It
could even mean the story features a non-scout
character such as Artemis.

Of course Sailor Moon is a romantic
show, but many Sailor Moon fanfics are not
written with romance as a key element. It
is inherent in almost all the fics out there, but
still..this category is for those fics that
really focus on Romance as a key plot point.

Any fanfiction can probably be
called Alternate Reality, but I've narrowed
my definition down to these sub-categories.
There are various types of stories that I've seen
written. Please note, AR fanfics are broken up by
what sub-categories they fall into. I can't list the fic until I know what sub-category it's a part of rather than the much broader AR genre. Sorry for any confusion. ^^; Thank you. : )

This is a story that modifies the
plot of an existing Sailor Moon
storyline. I.E. Making Raye/Rei Sailor Moon
rather then Usagi/Serena within the Original
Series storyline. Basically, most of the
plot points stay the same, but only a few
change.

A story inserted into an existing
storyline, not modifying it, just adding to
it. I.E: describing what Mina/Minako was
doing as Sailor V before she met up with the
other scouts in the original series.

While leaving an existing Storyline
in place, a sequel is then written
modifying the events afterwards. I.E. After the
original Series, R never happens, instead
Rini/Chibiusa is run over by a steamroller,
that sort of thing.

Stories taking place in the Silver
Millenium or anytime before Luna and Sailor
Moon meet for the first time count.

The 30th Century and
Neo-Crystal-Tokyo. Actually this also
means any story that follows Sailor Stars.
However, I suggest unless the story takes place a
hundred years at least after Sailor Stars is
supposed to, then it should be considered a
Sequel. Otherwise it takes place in the future.

If in any situation, new scouts, or
warriors, or whatever are injected into the
plot which play a major role. It also means
the original main characters are still around.

Rather then using current
characters, instead new ones are
created. i.e. another generation of scouts.
Normally this means that the original characters
do not appear at all as well.
Alternate Version, Sequel, and
Missing Piece stories will also be subdivided by
what series they' belong to. I.E. is the
story is Super S Alternate Sequel for
instance.

Sailor Moon is a comedy, but this
category is reserved for those whose intention is
to make their stories very funny. It also
is where parodies will be found.

This of course is any story that
involves characters or phenomena from another
series. I.E. Gundam Wing, though there have
been stranger crossings as well.

A story is a Saga if it has a
continous plot that consists of several
pages of text. I leave it up to the authors to
decide whether their stories are a saga or
not. A 200 page epic is a Saga, but so is a
ten page continous story, especially if it still
in progress. This can still apply to
small story pages, if the work is just
beginning and the author intends it to be a
saga.

Fanfics that are not suitable for
younger readers.
